College of Agriculture, Tripura started its journey on 24thAugust,2007 with 19 students at Upgraded Training Centre (U.G.T.C) campus of the Department of Agriculture, Government of Tripura, Lembucherra. Honourable Chief Minister Sri Manik Sankar laid the foundation stone for college building complex at Lembucherra on 24th  August 2007. The opening ceremony of the new college building was held on 19th July,2011 and the inaugurator was Sri Manik Sarkar, Honourable Chief Minister of Tripura. The college is affiliated to Tripura University(a Central University), Suryamaninagar. The College is located at Lembucherra, P.O.-Lembucherra, District-West Tripura, Tripura-799210. Within the one km radius of the college, there are College of Fisheries, a College under Central Agricultural University(CAU),Imphal; ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region and ICFAI University. The Holy Cross College and Eklavya Campus,Tripura Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, (Deemed University), New Delhi will start functioning at Lembucherra shortly. College is located 8 km away from Agartala city, the Capital of Tripura and 11 km away from Agartala Airport. Environment of the college is calm and quiet and pollution free. The College is connected with capital and airport with metled road.

       MANDATES:

Ø    To impart education in different branches of Agriculture and allied sciences as it may deem fit.

Ø    To further facilitate the advancement of learning and conducting research in Agriculture and allied sciences.

Ø    To undertake Extension Education programme in the state under its jurisdiction and

Ø    To facilitate the spread of different technologies to the farmers field.

    MISSION:

                 Keeping the mandates in view, the mission of College of Agriculture, Tripura is to be a centre of excellence in   teaching, research and extension education in the field of agriculture and allied sciences.

     GOALS:

Ø    To produce globally competitive Agricultural graduates.

Ø    To develop sustainable and profitable farming systems for improving productivity, production and profitability in Agriculture sector.

Ø    To educate the extension functionaries for effective dissemination of agro technologies to the farmers, entrepreneurs and agro-industries.

Ø    To be an important link in the chain for converting agriculture and allied vocations into profitable enterprises and providing food and nutritional security to people of this state and N-E Region.

     OBJECTIVES:

      To meet the goals the College has laid down the following objectives.

Ø    To impart quality education so as to produce globally competitive graduates and postgraduates in different areas of agriculture.

Ø    To establish research stations and specialized research laboratories for taking of basic and applied research by the scientists and postgraduate students.

Ø    To develop and demonstrate alternate farming system which helps the farmers to improve their productivity and profitability while preserving the environment.

Ø    To establish transfer of technology centre for developing extension methodologies and training the trainers in information dissemination.

Ø    To popularize improved farming systems, technologies and implements.

Ø    To offer short term refresher and vocational course and training programs to the officials of the state Govt. Departments, farmers entrepreneurs with agro-industrial houses.

Ø    To have collaboration in the field of teaching, research, transfer of technology with developmental institutions including industrial business houses.

Ø    To provide consultancy services to progressive farmers, agro-industries, agro entrepreneurs and others involved in agriculture and allied sectors.

Ø    To act as documentation and information centre on agricultural education, research, extension methodology and development.

Ø    To establish convergence and synergy among programmes in the field of agricultural research and development.
